Often called “The Wikipedia of Maps”, OpenStreetMap is an open source, crowd sourced basemap of the world, created by you! We’ll learn how to edit OpenStreetMap and work together to improve the map of Bloomington, and other areas of interest. OpenStreetMap has become the go-to map for humanitarian aid organizations to use post-conflict. Volunteers at IU and around the world gathered to map Nepal after the earthquakes in April 2015. This workshop will prepare you to contribute to humanitarian mapping projects in the future.
