As scholarly outputs and digital publishing models continue to evolve, scholars are interested in gaining insights into how their work is being disseminated and what impact it is having among academic communities and wider audiences. One way for scholars to demonstrate the influence of their work is to understand various research impact indicators. This workshop will provide an overview and introduction to how traditional and nontraditional scholarly metrics, such as Journal Impact Factor, h-index, ImpactStory, and Altmetrics are being used to gather evidence and demonstrate potential value and research impact during promotion and tenure proceedings. Participants will learn the importance of unique author identifiers including ORCID and Researcher ID, and discuss relevant issues such as choosing a journal for your research, open access, and using scholarly networking tools. Academics from all disciplines are encouraged to attend.
