World Book and Copyright Day is a yearly event organized by the United Nations to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. Don't miss this global tribute to books! Join the IU Libraries' Education Library for a day full of DIY events, freebies and more in the School of Education.

In this workshop, you will learn how to make books appropriate for classroom teaching using only paper, thread, and a few hand tools. We will sew three different blank books: a single-signature pamphlet, a two-signature pamphlet, and a five signature long-stitch book. These structures can be modified or embellished in endless ways once you know the basic method of construction, and are based on centuries-old methods of bookbinding! Learn about the early history of the codex, or book, through additional materials that will be provided.
