Curious about archaeology?! Interested in local Bloomington history?! This opportunity may be for you! Join IU archaeologists and their field school students for three hours of involvement with a historic site archaeology project.

Indiana University's Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology and the Wylie House Museum join together for a special  project investigating our local Hoosier cultural heritage as part of IU’s Bicentennial celebration. Wylie House Museum is the 1835 house of IU’s first president Andrew Wylie and is IU’s oldest property. For four weeks this summer, IU students will learn archaeological field methods while searching for two buried garden facilities dating to 1859. You're invited to join them for a few hours. Spaces are limited. Ages 18 & up.

This is the second of four volunteer day opportunities throughout the month of June. To ensure that the maximum number of interested parties are able to participate, we kindly request that you register for just one session.

Rain info: Light rain will not impact the project so plan to join us and get a little wet. If there is severe weather the volunteer time will be cancelled; lead archaeologist, Liz Watts Molouchos will let you know by 7am. If you do not receive an email, the dig is on!

Parking info: A few spots are available behind the Wylie House Museum and its education center. They are accessible via the alley that runs between Grant and Lincoln St. and are labeled Wylie House Parking. In addition, Grant St. does not have neighborhood or limited parking hours. Other options include parking in 2 hour parking in front of the museum and moving your vehicle for the last hour, or parking at 2nd St. Kroger a couple of blocks west of the museum.
